01 Recoil, Liquid, CD STUMM 173 (Mute)
- this new album from ex-Depeche Mode Alan Wilder sets a new standard for the relation between music and poetry. Based around "liquids", you'll find here the usual somber but soulful electronic wizardry of the man with the lyrics and voices of various female poets and singers. Skindeep tales, beautiful. You can visit Recoil website for more info at http://www.recoil.co.uk
02 Ryuichi Sakamoto, BTTB, SK 89079 CD, Sony Classical
- Mr Sakamoto goes "Back to the basics" with this solo album for piano. From weird ballads, classic themes revisited to modern chamber pieces this melancholic jewel reveals once more the skills of this genius. Unmissable.
03 Speedy J, A shocking hobby, NOMU 74 CD, NovaMute (Mute)
- this album may well be the future sound of Rotterdam, another industrial crater, the Sheffield of Holland. Elements of techno stripped to the bone, harsh treatments, corrosive and distorted layers of noises that may well be the essentials of modern urban existence. Concrete towers of discpline shifting in your soul. A magnificient diary of post industrialism indeed.
04 Einstürzende Neubauten, Silence is sexy, CD STUMM 182 (Mute)
- the Berlin masters return with a double album somehow very different from their usual outputs. Still quite on the trashy side but with more charm and variations in the music and the use of non musical objects, the trademark of their sound. Listen for yourself.
05 Brendan Perry, Eye of the Hunter, 724384843625 CD (4AD)
- Dead Can still Dance, the soul of the Irish man's just for you. Intimate ballads, the core of beauty and simplicity... and what a sound!!
